Process Paper
Choosing a topic for history fair can be difficult. Last year I had done history fair on the battle of Iwo Jima. I had come across that because my dad who is in the military had visited there. I had noticed that the Pacific part of World War II had really caught my attention, especially because of all the outrageous things done by the Japanese. So when I found out what the theme this year was the first thing I did was think, how could I incorporate Japan during World War II. I had remembered reading something about how the Japanese had lost a lot of Military rights and I took it from there. After reading more I had come up with the topic of Japan not keep up with the responsibility of the law resulting in the punishment of a restricted military.
Then it was time for some work to be done. I had to figure out what laws were broken and what the Japanese had done wrong. So, I read some books and searched on the web to get an idea of some of the war crimes were. Once I got an Idea of what they were I hit the databases and found sources. After awhile I had found so many different things through the Databases and archives I had completed my research.
This year I had picked a website as my presentation. But the past two years I had picked an exhibit. This year I wanted to do something new. In my English class we had done a book project using Weebly and it was easy and fun. I had liked it more then gluing things on to a trifold and I felt I could make the project more visually exciting using a website. Making my project a website just made more sense for me and found it extremely convenient.
The 20014 NHD theme is Rights and responsibilities. My project relates to this theme because it talks about responsibilities not being maintained by the Japanese. Keeping up with the law is a responsibility and Japan had failed to do so. It also talks about how in result of not maintaining their responsibilities they lost some rights. They could no longer have an army. They were left with a defense team which does not contain the same rights as a normal army.
