On December 7, 1941 the Japanese Imperial Navy made a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. America had not been apart of World War II yet; Therefore, the attack made by the Japanese was illegal. At 7:43 A.M. (Hawaii time) the base in Pearl Harbor was attacked by 353 Japanese torpedo planes, fighters, and bombers. They came in two waves. 2,402 Americans were killed and 1,282 were wounded.

"History demonstrates that previous military drawdowns invited aggression by our enemies. After World War I, America drew down forces until the U.S. Army had fewer than 100,000 men in uniform. That weakness invited Nazi aggression in Europe and the imperial Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor."- Frank Gaffney
